Once I received a request for a photoshoot with high technical requirements. It was also necessary to develop standards for photography.

When I saw examples of what the client wanted, it was clear that a car photo studio was indispensable. However, this was impossible for several reasons. The main reason was that there were many cars, and they were all available at different times. Therefore, I worked with what was available: an underground parking lot.

For me, nothing is impossible, but taking a beautiful overall picture of a car (exterior) in an underground parking lot with low ceilings was impossible (limited space, many reflections). So, I focused on the interior and details. I used 1 to 4 light sources and developed a special shooting and processing algorithm. I also separately shot various views outside the window, which we added with a retoucher during post-processing. It turned out as if we were shooting on the street near buildings (but everything was happening in an underground parking lot). This shooting method allowed my client to save many thousands of pounds.

Once I came across a good imitation of a car photo studio. Yes, its ceiling didn’t move (but it was high), and the walls were not as far from the car as I would have liked, but there was plenty of light and a gaffer.
