How to photograph a car with a professional fashion model

Once my friend Vano wrote to me and said he would have a Suzuki Jimny for a test drive. I thought it was a great opportunity to shoot something that I had been planning for a long time: car + model = lifestyle.

I had already found a model long ago, I met Elina more than a year ago at one shoot. I also wanted to collaborate with a photographer who shoots people more than I do. I invited Denis, who understood me without many words.

At first, everything seemed to be going well, but then… Then Vano said that Suzuki would give us a car not in a bright green color (as I requested) but just green. I had to come up with different clothes, luckily I hadn’t bought them yet at that moment.

Next. I chose the shooting location – Konduki, it’s near Tula, 1.5-2 hours drive from Moscow. I had never been there and didn’t know for sure if we could drive inside there or not. However, I didn’t emphasize it too much to avoid adding additional worries for the participants of the trip. I saw on the Internet that people somehow drive through, so we will drive too, we have a jeep, albeit small. By the way, all four of us fit in it together with luggage.

The D-day. I don’t remember exactly, but something happened to Denis, and our trip was also in question. But he managed to go with us. And then, when we came for Elina, she told us that the lock in the bathroom broke, and she was locked in it, and her phone was outside, and there was no one in the apartment… But she broke the door and got out.

By some miracle, we managed to gather and go for the shoot. Fortunately, we didn’t have any more problems that day. We shot, and it turned out very cool. I just felt in my gut that it was the right combination of people, car, and location.

Then retouching. Here retoucher Alexander comes into play, who once very atmospherically processed the landscape with my Subaru Outback. Alexander understood perfectly how to process the captured material. It seems like simple processing and color, but at the same time neat and attentive to details.

If you decide to go to Konduki, choose a weekday. After this shoot, I was there on weekends when there were many more people. And the views are beautiful as if you find yourself somewhere very far from Moscow.
