A creative Halloween photoshoot with a Lamborghini Murcielago
For about two years, I’d been carrying around an idea for a Halloween car photography project, but it never quite came together. Everything changed the day I saw a bright orange Lamborghini Murcielago at a large car meet hosted by The Motorist.
The contrast was perfect: a dramatic supercar and the playful, slightly dark aesthetics of Halloween. I reached out to Simon (Drivers_keepers), and we arranged a creative automotive photography shoot built entirely around this idea.
Creative automotive photography and Halloween styling
For this Halloween themed photo shoot, we kept the props simple but expressive. We used pumpkins, a skeleton, ribbons, and a witch’s hat — just enough to support the concept without overpowering the car itself.
One of the ideas came from a photo of my cat, Kotka, which I shot last Halloween. That image inspired the “inside the pumpkin” angle, but this time reimagined for a Lamborghini Murcielago. It’s a good example of how creative automotive photography often grows from small, unexpected references.
Lamborghini Murcielago: the story behind the car
Now, a few words about the car itself. Years ago, while flipping through an issue of Evo magazine (April 2005), I noticed an orange Murcielago with a familiar registration number. At the time, I thought it was just a coincidence.
Later, when reviewing my photos from The Motorist event, I realised it was the exact same car.
The owner, Simon, bought the Lamborghini Murcielago new in 2004. He wrote articles about it for the magazine and still drives it regularly, almost daily. Over the years, he has travelled all across Europe in this car. As of today, it has covered more than 302,000 miles — an incredible story for any supercar and a perfect subject for a creative car photography project.
Why seasonal concepts work in car photography
Halloween car photography allows you to step outside standard automotive visuals and experiment with mood, colour, and storytelling. Seasonal themes help create emotion and memorability, especially when combined with an iconic car like the Lamborghini Murcielago.
This project shows how a clear idea, light styling, and respect for the subject can turn a simple shoot into a distinctive creative automotive photography series.
