Car Photography in England: Real Automotive Shoots in Motion

Photos of Cars in Motion — Chevrolet Corvette Stingray (York)

I had an amazing shoot on a runway with the team from Club Class Cars York. We caught the sunlight, rode in the boot of the car, and enjoyed the raw sound of the Corvette Stingray’s exhaust.

The runway was available to us for a couple of hours. During this time, I focused on classic car photography in England, shooting car-by-car while driving — when the photographer captures a vehicle from another moving car. I also took several static shots, and once it got dark, I switched to flash and artificial light to create a more dramatic look.

These photos of cars in motion were used on the company’s website homepage and shared across social media. Not long after the shoot, the Corvette was sold — a clear example of how automotive photography in the UK can directly support sales.

Creative Car Photography — Porsche 944 & 924 Near London

We took these photos in the city near a viaduct not far from Enfield, just outside London. It’s a very convenient setup for photos of cars in motion, as shooting from one car to another allows you to experiment with angles, reflections and perspective — as long as you stay focused and careful.

When I first saw this viaduct in David’s stories, I immediately thought it was a strong location for creative car photography. Good company, interesting weather, a broken exhaust, a dog running around — and the result was a relaxed shoot with character and energy.

Images like these work perfectly for calendars, posters and merchandise for automotive clubs, which are very popular across England. Or simply as personal prints to keep in a home archive or display on the wall.

Car Photography in Motion — Subaru STi R205 & Porsche Boxster (Peak District)

This was the most challenging part of the project — photographing two cars in motion at the same time.

I had wanted to organise a shoot in the Peak District for a long time, but it wasn’t possible until I got my driving licence. This summer, everything finally came together, and I arranged a shoot planned around three cars. Unfortunately, one couldn’t make it on the day, but we still had a Subaru Impreza STi R205 and a Porsche Boxster.

Early on a warm summer morning, my colleague John and I headed to the Peak District, where we met Chris and Dominic. We photographed across this beautiful area and even created a small traffic jam to capture a few dynamic shots among the hills.

Apologies to the seven cars that could have driven at 20 miles per hour but were briefly stuck behind us at 15 — it was all for the sake of car photography in England.

Here’s just a little BTS:

By the way, on the same day with the two classic Porsches, we also created a creative shot featuring a chess set. You can find this and other creative car photographs at the link.
